The Natural Change Project
WWF-Scotland
Wild Places as Transformative Space
Perhaps our most influential and high-profile project, the Natural Change Project used residential workshops in wild places as the core methodology for developing environmental leadership and advocacy.
WWF-Scotland commissioned the original programme in 2008, bringing together seven leaders from different fields for a series of experiences in inspirational Scottish landscapes. The results were striking - participants underwent lasting personal transformation that translated into active environmental advocacy at senior levels.
The project was repeated with education leaders in 2010, eventually influencing Scottish government policy and contributing to UNESCO's recognition of Scotland as a world leader in Learning for Sustainability. Such was the impact of the approach that it was established as an independent social enterprise, Natural Change Limited, in 2011.
